MISSION: Go to Joe Shanghai on Pell St. in Chinatown and order a Wanton Soup in Chinese.
SOURCE: Janet C.
ANALYSIS: I went to Joe Shanghai after work last night, but sadly, it was closed (worked late). Janet recorded her voice on my phone - teaching me how to order Wanton Soup in Chinese and I practiced on the drive over. Looking forward to trying my Chinese accent soon.

MISSION: Go into any coffee shop and buy someone a drink of their choice. The person you select should be someone who looks like they could use a fun surprise.
SOURCE: David K.
ANALYSIS: I went to the Starbucks on Manhattan Ave. in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and started chatting with the woman in line next to me. She looked a little stressed and I asked her what her drink was. She...
JANUARY 27th
MISSION: Answer the following two questions: 1) What is the weirdest thing you will ever admit to having done in the past? 2) If you suddenly found yourself turned into a woman, how would you spend your day?
SOURCE: Jane
ANALYSIS:
1) When I was young, not sure how old, I decided to see how far I could ride my bike with my eyes closed. I was pretty fearless and didn’t open my...

MISSION: Chill for an hour. Do what you want to do and write it down.
SOURCE: Candy
ANALYSIS: This one mirrors Missions from 3/23/10 and 9/20/10. To complete it, I decided to pour myself a nightcap, watch an episode of Arrested Development and play a little guitar, before getting some rest. It is logged in the ongoing Daily Mission Project journal.

MISSION: Write a letter/pay a visit to a teacher who had a significant impact on you (for better or worse).
SOURCE: Kristin
ANALYSIS: Similar to January 5th’s Mission, so instead of college professors, I decided to write to an elementary school teacher. I wrote to Mrs. Brodhead, the music teacher at Northeast Elementary School in Ithaca, NY. She worked with my father and...

MISSION: Buy me a drink.
SOURCE: Christina
ANALYSIS: I was at the Whiskey Brooklyn (10/25/10) where I went to relax with friends/gather a Mission. I met Christina after breaking up a fight which was happening dangerously close to her and her friends. She thanked me and gave me the above Mission. We chatted as we sipped our Jamesons on the rocks.

MISSION: Read The Story of the Eye.
SOURCE: Jason
ANALYSIS: Georges Bataille’s The Story of the Eye is not like anything I’ve read before. Written in 1928, it is much more graphic and profane than I expected. At the same time, it is somewhat fascinating as well. It’s worth the read.

MISSION: Clear up a weird situation from your past.
SOURCE: Rebecca S.
ANALYSIS: I suppose this Mission could have applied to anything, but I was pretty sure that Rebecca was referring to a falling out that we had a year and a half ago. Rebecca and I had dinner with Orenda (10/3/10) two summers ago, and for a variety of reasons, it didn’t end well. It wasn’t easy, but...

MISSION: Write about yourself.
SOURCE: Max
ANALYSIS:
Born on August 3rd 1982.
Peed on grandma when I was one. Hid a matchbox car in my diaper when I was two. Started playing soccer at four and hockey at five. Learned to ride a bike when I was six though the bushes and the mailbox didn’t help - I have scars to prove it. Lost my mother when I was nine. Kissed a girl when I...

MISSION: Come up with your very own cheesy pick up line.
SOURCE: Ryan
ANALYSIS: Do you hear that? I keep hearing music whenever you walk by.

MISSION: Buy a random person a drink at a bar for no reason (not to hit on them or anything).
SOURCE: Anonymous
ANALYSIS: I walked into a neighborhood bar in Queens where only a few people were sitting and watching TV. I sipped on a Bud Light and scoped out the crowd. When I finished the bartender asked me if I wanted another one. “No,” I said, “but the old guy at...

MISSION: When talking to anyone, you must first repeat what they say before you can say anything else. See how people react.
SOURCE: Tammy
ANALYSIS: I took a lap around Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and ended up at the bar, T.B.D. The first few interactions were awkward:
To “Hi, how are you?” I answered, “Hi, how are you?!”
To “Hey, what’s up...
